Khazaria was a large geographic area near the modern day Ukraine.  It was a lawless area run by Commercial Rogues, Thieves, Murders, Rapists, Satanists, and more. 

It was overseen by a King who loved the lawlessness, because that's how he was raised too.   

Surrounding Kings from Russia and Persia issued the Khazarian King Bulan an Ultimatum.  "Clean up your populus or we'll wipe them all out".

The Khazarian King and his flock faked reform for a while. Once their ruse was revealed, the surrounding Kings decimated the area. 

What was good for them was not great for more distant lands, as some of the Khazarian residents fled far and wide to avoid their own destruction. Those Olde Kings accidentally left the rest of the world to struggle into perpetuity, or so it seems now anyway.  Maybe they'll make up for it some day.
